FANTASY FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!!!!!

Okay it's here and it's online for the first time ever. I implore you to not think of it as a drag but think of it as progress as the ZFFL in it's 4th year finally moves into the digital age! Anyway enough with the rambling intro let's get to the good stuff.

Details: The site is hosted at espn.com and it's free so the league will cost you only $20. We will be conducting the draft via my LJ and hopefully will complete it quickly so that we can prepare for the season opener 2 weeks from now. All scoring rules are the same with 1 exception. Def. Shutouts are now 15. We will carry a roster of 16 with 1 injured reserve spot. the extra roster spot this year is for an extra starter that will be a wr/te. Thus your starting lineup will look like this:
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1WR/TE, 1 Def, 1PK. If you have any questions about the scoring or the rosters please call or email me. now on with the draft order.

1. Mclaughlin
2. Williams
3. Aultman
4. Big Bird
5. Toddly
6. Jaybee
7. Lail
8. Zorik
9. Conley
10. Mihir

The draft will take place through this thread and is officially open for drafting. Please use this thread only for real draft picks any other discussion should be on another thread. Peace and good luck!

I'm BACK

So did you all miss me? That's what I figured. Anyway, I have my computer with me in the (not so) Lovely town of Clinton Mississippi and am itching to get all funkified on this livejournal thingamajigger!! Well, as you can probably tell I have been away from real civilization for quite a while now. This upcoming week will be my seventh away from my humble abode in Zephyrhills and even though I shall be returning in a mere 4 weeks it seems as if I've lost contact with nearly everyone in my six weeks absence. I never was much of a poster on this website and I feel like I'm maybe missing out on an opportunity to talk to some of my friends. It's quite lonely here in Clinton. Some of the people are rather cool and I do enjoy the work that I'm doing but, I'm constantly surrounded by people that I've known for only six weeks and I don't feel comfortable calling them my friends or spending all my free time with them. I actualy find myself longing to go back to work during the weekends to get away from the monotany of small talk. Oh well, I'm sure there is little if any sorrow on my behalf and thus I shant waste my keystrokes on any more self pity. I suppose this is enough of an entry to tide me over til say tomorrow just to let you all know whats going on. If you care or have questions please drop me a reply or call me for goodness sakes! I need interaction with people that I actually like. Anyway, Peace out! God Bless (yes even you Aaron)!

I guess it's about time for a melodramatic rant...

So I was just surfing around the internet today and I stumbled upon a place I frequent about as much as the gym and that was LJ. I don't know why I so rarely visit this mecca of blogness but I think it may be because sometimes I like to pretend everything is the same as it has always been. When I do check out the entries of my friends I have a forced realization that life acts a lot like a pendulum, no matter how many times you dodge the ARM OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION it always comes right back to kick your (expletive deleted). I think most of us at our age experience a crossroads if you will. It almost always includes choosing between the past and the future. What we are all destined to realize is that the two paths almost never coordinate. However often this is not a concious decision but a forced separation. There is no doubt how much our lives have been influenced and touched because of the friends and in some cases enemies we interacted with in our youth but, the very nature of our life causes us to grow out of those relationships and into a future that guarantees us nothing but change. I don't mind change at all but when its change simply for changes sake I become not only skeptical but pessimistic. I'm sure there could be a shorter version of this rant and I'm sure there could be an extremely longer version of this rant but I think it might help to at least admit that this is happening and that while friendships aren't necessarily forever the impact they make upon our lives in fact is. Ironically it is this influence that sometimes pulls at us to hold onto these relationships perhaps too long. I'm not saying that We should abandon those we've grown up with for the sake of moving on but I am saying that pretending or insinuating that we are going to remain friends no matter what is not fesible. I hope this made some sense if not oh well.

Baseball Preview

Fine We'll make it two entries in less than 7 hours by analyzing the second most exciting sporting event this weekend and that of course is opening day baseball. Since I seem to be the foremost advocate for America's pastime I have taken upon myself to inform the masses or at least the 4 of you who might actually read this of what exactly will transpire this season in Major League Baseball.

Official Predictions:

NL EAST:

Atlanta Braves 91-71
- No one in baseball much less the relatively weak NL EAST can match up with their starting 5

New York Mets 86-76
-Beltran + Pedro equals moderate success. Good enough for 2nd not for 1st.

Florida Marlins 82-80
-Overrated pitching staff and loss of top closer dooms the fish to mediocrity.

Philadelphia Phillies 70-92
-The wheels fall completely off in Philly as they head toward a complete rebuild.

Washington Nationals 68-94
-Now there will be a crowd to watch the expos err nationals lose

NL Central: (note this section may contain extreme bias)

Chicago Cubs 162-0 or 89-73
-But really if the pitchers stay moderately healthy they are the class of the central

St. Louis Cardinals 87-75
-Lack of pitching depth hurts cardinals hopes for a repeat world series appearance

Cincinatti Reds 81-81
-the most improved team in this division with a stud lineup that rivals the Cards for best in the division.

Houston Astros 81-81
-Just an average team. 3 quality starters 2 quality bats = not nearly enough

Milwaukee Brewers 69-93
-Play the young kids! It can't get any worse

Pittsburgh Pirates 62-100
-the worst team in the national league over the last 4 years expect more of the same

NL WEST:

San Diego Padres 85-77
-Padres with average record luck out in worts division in baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers 79-83
-Offseason moves add more questions than answers

Arizona Diamondbacks 76-86
-the big unit trade was productive but not very still only decent

San Francisco Giants 75-87
-want to know how much Barry Bonds means to his team. With them their the prohibitive division favorite without him they only beat the rockies out of the cellar.

Colorado Rockies 58-106
-Quite simply the youngest team in the National League and in this case youth=losses

NL MVP: Albert Pujols 1b Cardinals
NL Cy Young: Jason Schmidt Giants
NL ROY: Chase Utley 2b Phillies
Most Underrated: Jack Wilson ss Pirates
Most Overrated: Jeff Kent 2b Dodgers

AL EAST:
New York Yankees 104-58
-I hate teams that buy championships but if you're going to spend it you could do a lot worse than the team Steinbrenner has assembled this year.

Boston Red Sox 98-64
-the pitching staff imposes less fear than last year but may actually be better

Baltimore Orioles 79-83
-Sosa is done, palmeiro is nearly done, and their starters are the worst in the division (yes including Tampa)

Tampa Bay Devil Rays 72-90
-The young starters (Kazmir,Brazelton,Bell) are all a year older and their bullpen was one of the best in the AL last year, they'll need a repeat performance to make up for a weaker lineup

Toronto Blue Jays 70-92
-In Tampa we know what happens when you finish dead last and cut payroll, Toronto is about to find out.

AL CENTRAL: (Aaron Better read this)

Cleveland Indians 90-72
-the tribe are ready to make the leap to playoff contention with a great young lineup and a quality starting 5

Minnesota Twins 86-76
-Minnesota will be out of the playoffs for the first time in a long while as their anemic offense will keep them behind the charging wahoos

Detroit Tigers 81-81
-Alan Trammel may be the most underrated Manager in baseball as he's had absolutely no talent the last two seasons but that changes this year as the kids have matured

Chicago White Sox 74-88
-The second city's stepchild will underachieve as usual as a roster of selfish semi-stars dooms them to a sub .500 mark

Kansas City Royals 55-107
-Just Pathetic

AL WEST:

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 100-62
-Clearly the class of the west as they have a rare tri-fecta in the best starters, bullpen and lineup in their division augmented by the best manager, the surest bet since yokozuna vs. a cheeseburger (wrestling reference #1, more coming later)

Texas Rangers 88-74
-they won't take teams by surprise this year but they don't need to their kids have matured and that lineup is stacked

Seattle Mariners 83-79
-The most improved midlevel team of the offseason, Beltre and Sexson will provide enough pop to score Ichiro and Randy Winn 100 times a piece

Oakland Athletics 71-91
-Much like Philadelphia this is the year the magic stops, moneyball can only take you so far until you actually need, well you know money.

AL MVP: Alex Rodriguez 3b NYY
AL Cy Young: Randy Johnson NYY
AL ROY: tie Dallas McPherson 3b LAA, Scott Kazmir RHP TB
Most Underrated: Victor Martinez C CLE
Most Overrated: Sidney Ponson RHP BAL

Playoffs
Atlanta def. St. Louis New York def. Cleveland
Chicago def. San Diego Anaheim def. Boston

Atlanta def. Chicago New York def. Anaheim

New York def. Atlanta to win 2005 World Series

There you have it the official predictions for the 2005 season. I'll be doing a full preview for Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Cleveland, and the Cubs. If you have requests for any other teams let me know and I'll try to work them in. But, before I leave you we must have the WRESTLEMANIA RUNDOWN!!!!!

WWE Women's Championship
Trish vs. Christy Hemme

JA: probably Christy cuz she was just in playboy. If you don't understand why that's a reason for her winning let me know and I'll explain it to you.

Big Show vs. Akebono SUMO MATCH
JA: Akebono is on loan from New Japan so look for a mutual respect handshake after a AKEBONO win.

Eddie Guererro vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.
JA: has a chance to be match of the night i'll go with Eddie in a guy feeling

The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
JA: The Undertaker is undefeated at Wrestlemania 12-0 to be exact make that 13-0

Money In the Bank Ladder Match
Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kane vs. Edge vs. Christian
JA: The winner gets a shot at the World Heavyweight championship so the most likely challenger for Batista post MANIA is Kane so we'll go with him.

Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels
JA: If you actually enjoy "wrestling" you'll love this match but as for my pick...eh...HBK? (that's Shawn Michaels)

WWE Championship: JBL vs. John Cena
JA: AS simple a prediction as you will ever see in wrestling. JBL has remained champion by nefarious means for 10 months (an eternity in WWE time) and John Cena is the biggest face (short for babyface meaning good guy) in the company. Cena is the pick

World Heavyweight Championship: Triple H vs. Batista
JA: The main event is just as simple if you've seen a wrestlemania. Basic formula here the face wins the Mania main event congrats Batista.

Have a great week and I'll see you probably wednesday with the preview for the Atlanta Braves. Until then Arrivaderci!

Beware, Post contains unnatural excitement caused by incredibly lame means

It seems like forever since I've been on this thing. Oh well. Absence I'm told makes the heart grow fonder. I personally think that's bogus but then again I'm not a psychologist, although I highly doubt that cliche is based in anything psychological. Enough Meandering. Let me get to the reason for this entry.

I'm somehwat hesitant to admit this in such a public setting but I am excited about a wrestling show. Yes Wrestling. Yes it's the same "sport" that hasn't been cool to anyone else since I was 7 years old. But, to anyone who knows anything about sports entertainment this is a special time of year. This Sunday is wrestlemania and I'm giddy like a school girl at an NSYNC concert! (note: I understand that this pop culture reference is extremely dated but I am so out of the loop when it comes to popular teen acts these days so all of you out there in the know please inform me who should have been included in this half hearted joke)

Back to the point. Wrestlemania is the biggest show of the year in wrestling and it's the only show of the year I actually care about to be totally honest, but I do care a lot. However, I am like the only person In my immediate group of friends who actually likes this stuff anymore. I basically equate it to getting excited over the super bowl and then everyone telling you that football is for queers and that only losers like it. It's kind of annoying but anyway, that's my curse.

Not much to talk about just wanted to put that wrestling story out there for you all. I did quit my job at the ol' B to the Buster but the story has been played and quite frankly I'm tired of talking about it. I also found out that I am headed for the state of California this summer for my centri-kid job which i guess is a good thing. But that's all for now enjoy Wrestlemania everyone!

So I just got done watching Chris Rock Never Scared and I must admit despite the filthy language and abhorant use of derogatory terms toward african americans i must say that Ni&&a is F#@!ing hilarious as a Mutha F&#@a!!!!I do mean that with all due respect. Great lines like this one on why France didn't help us in the war in Iraq: "America is the most powerful nation in the world. France helping us beat Iraq is like me helping Mike Tyson beat up Urkel." Classic.

From one extreme to another I guess. I went to best buy on tuesday and picked up a few CD's taht were on sale for 7.99. I went with the fantastically nonsensical combination of Notorious BIG "ready to die", along with Jay-Z "Reasonable doubt." I added a splash of Stephen Lynch's "a little bit special" and topped it off with the smallest of minorities in music, KJ-52's "It's pronounced five two." (FYI he's a white christian rapper, Aaron would love him!) It's a malatov cocktail of musical enjoyment fully equipped to get you that awkward double take from your friendly best buy cashier.

Well It looks approximately 83.4% certain that I will be moving to Gainesville for the Fall Semester of 2005. I know you're all terribly excited for me and it's true that I am quite excited about the journey. However, there is one situation that leaves me somewhat sorrowful. Todd alas it seems will not be accompanying me on this journey. He has decided to stay at UCF. I won't so much miss his presence as I will miss the easy punch lines he provides. I mean that in all sincerity as well. toddd knows we all love him and that's why he can take the verbal abuse we lay down. I am quite sure if I were the subject of the type of banter todd receives I would most assuredly have not spoken to anyone from Zephyrhills High School for a good 2 years now. Oh well. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do and todd has to do what he has to do too.

Hasta Luego! Dame libertad o dame cabesa!

Back by (not so) popular demand!

Did you miss me? Yeah I didn't think so. Anyways at conley's urging i decided to update this soul crushingly boring journal. So I got my oil changed today and that's about the most exciting thing i have to tell you. Other than that I'm heading up to Gainesville this weekend to hang out with Gaaaye, Conley and that other kid who's going up there for a bball game. It should be fun and if it isn't then it won't be and that's all i have to say about that.

Do you guys ever watch G4techtv? It's a pretty sweet channel about video games and technology. Xplay, Judgment Day, Icons and The Screen Savers are all informing and entertaining shows. I'm watching Icons talking about the cultural impact of Mortal Kombat. Very GenXYZ or somewhere in there.

Final Thoughts: National signing day is tomorrow, UF is going to have a strong if unspectacular class, but USF is going to finally land it's blue chipper that might be able to bring them to the top of the Medium East. Carlton Hill is a lot like Alex Smith was when he came out of High school. Similar passing and rushing numbers and all. Just remember that Utah was pretty crappy the years before Alex Smith. :::Shrugs relcutantly::: and pre-Urban Meyer. Just watch out for real!

Final thoughts part deux: GO Buy RAY!! Like NOW!!!! Wal-Mart and Blockbuster are still open!!! What are you waiting for?!?!?! The best portrayal of a real person I have ever seen. On top of that I dare you to find one better.

GNIGHT

Why Am I staying awake to watch tennis

Well It's been a long night and since this is the first entry into my new venture in the livejournal cult i suppose this entry should at least by somewhat lengthy. Therefore i am left in quite the predicament. Should I get some sleep seeing as how i have to be at work at 9 am tomorrow or should i watch the Quarterfinals of the Austrailian open while writing in a blog that I most likely will forget all about in approximately 8 days. I guess we'll figure out the answer based on how long this entry turns out.
So I'm talking to Conley tonight and he says you should do a livejournal and i'm thinking why would i waste my time writing down my thoughts on subjects which interest only about 1 in 500090 people but then i thought back to myself that there are about 6,000,000,000 people in the world so there are about 11,997 people who are mildly interested in what I have to say and i suddenly feel filled with importance. Which coincidentily or not is similar to impotance. For whatever it's worth i'll take the feeling of importance over impotance pretty much every time.
Anyway, everyone seems to have a serious opening where they talk about something in their lives that holds some significance and then they move on to a funny anecdote or story to leave their reader in a good mood. Either it's a solid writing strategy or I"m reading way too much into these posts either way here we go with the serious opening.
I'm still kind of pissed about my family leaving FBC of Zhills 3 weeks ago. If i feel like it later i'll explain the whole situation but the jist of it is my family was lied about yet again and we decided to cut our losses and look for another place to go. But, like many people, the liars decided that us leaving wasn't enough and have since taken up the hobby of letter writing. Namely unsigned anonymous letters hand delivered to either my mother's office or our house when we're not home calling my Mother and Father everything from "Stage Monkeys" to "Satanic Mongrels" which if it is true seems to be at least more honest than the title of "Hypocrite" they've bestowed upon themselves. Why must people get pleasure out of other's pain? Just doesn't make any sense to me.
So here comes the light anecdote. I was talking to Samantha on our Monday opening shift and we got on the topic of the future and what we will do for the rest of our lives. She said she wanted to be in some sort of management. I suggested she get into the clothing industry making grey jumpsuits because that seems to be all anyone wears in the space movies. Admittedly not my best effort at humor but it struck a nerve as she snorted as loud as I've ever heard and fell down behind the counter. The real funny part came when a truly concerned regular customer asked if she had hurt herself.
Okay maybe that wasn't funny enough but tis all I have this evening. I will now leave with what will soon be my trademark the incorrect spanish translation of an american quote. This classic is from Patrick Henry: "Dame Libertad o Dame Cabesa!" Night
